Best gas station food I’ve had in the last couple years for sure! Delicious sushi - one of the better places in the Triangle. It was full when we ate, and service was kind of slow. Totally worth the wait though. Good selection of Japanese beers plus Thai tea! Worth making a reservation ahead of time. Parking is a bit of a pain, with only about 7 spots set aside for the restaurant. Many, many spaces said ‘no restaurant parking’.

Just tried Akami for lunch after hearing about it from several people and seeing an article about the quality of the sushi. I must say, it's a bit cramped, but that's about the only negative thing about the place. The staff is lovely and the sushi is absolutely wonderful. My family and I enjoyed 8 different specialty roles and each one was expertly presented and tasted even better than it looked. Definitely recommend.

Just tried Akami today after recommendations from friends. I would describe my meal as fantastic! Don’t let it being adjacent to the actual gas station turn you away. I was pleased, especially with not being impressed with many other restaurants in the area. The staff was nice, my food was pretty quick, and I had enough to leave satisfied and have more for later. Pictured: spicy chicken gyoza, the Ocean Delight roll, and yuzu cheesecake. The coconut shrimp didn’t particularly shine through in the roll, but the lobster certainly did. I loved being able to individually taste each part of the roll. Check this place out!

20/10 — hands down one of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in North Carolina. I ordered the premium nigiri and sashimi set, and the fish quality was outstanding. The toro, snapper, and bluefin tuna and all the rest were absolutely incredible—fresh, rich, and perfectly prepared. On top of the already top-tier fish, the chef served freshly grated real wasabi root. Only a handful of places do this, such as high-end omakase experiences—so this was a huge and unexpected in a small restaurant right beside a gas station. Highly recommend ordering the premium items and letting the chef show off.

🍣❤️🔥🤤Unexpected find. Wonderful experience. Anyone else confused to find an epic sushi place connected to a gas station? I'm definitely going to go back tho! We got the rainbow, phat ?something?boy?, Dragon rolls plus Edamame and gyoza.
