Sashimi: Walk in and walk straight to the back if you’re looking for sashimi. Grab a ticket! They’ll call the number and then you’ll get to pick the sashimi you want. Wait till they cut it and come back when they call your number. About 5-10 minutes! Once your ticket number is called, grab the cut sashimi and you’re ready for checkout (front). Rolls: If you’re looking for rolls, walk in to the left side (coolers). Theres a line sometimes so don’t cut in line if you see people wrapped around the corner for the rolls! Interior: it’s packed with Japanese condiments/food/snacks! Price of these are higher but I do believe most of them come from Japan. Price: it’s reasonable and fresh! My first sushi review for 2026 ... Yama Sushi is the go to spot in the San Gabriel area when you want solid sushi to go. Simple as that. No hype needed and no long explanation required. The food is consistently good, fresh, and prepared fast, which is exactly why people keep coming back. If you come here regularly, you already know what you are getting and you keep showing up for a reason. It is reliable, straightforward, and satisfying every time. Sometimes that is all that needs to be said.

The best hidden sushi market that has been a staple for decades. Many fresh fish options as well as rolls. Take a number from the roll and wait until they call your number. Then you pick your fish and they will cut it up and box it for no additional charge and call your number when it’s ready. There are also many Japanese snacks, seasonings, and desserts. Parking lot in the back is small but usually has open spaces. On Saturday morning it was very busy and took me about 20 minutes to get my order. Small driveway is easy to miss; turn right after the Jack in the Box drive through.
