I’ve had Caribbean Gourmet on my radar for a while and finally got a chance to try it - all I can say is I’m mad at myself for not trying it sooner! The food was so flavorful and comforting - reminded me of the southern soul food I grew up eating and I’ll definitely be going out of my way to try some pastries and their weekend specials when I’m in the area! We tried the jerk chicken plate and the chicken curry roti for our first visit and loved them both. The jerk chicken was the clear winner for us though - perfect blend of warming spices on a flawlessly tender chicken quarter (dark meat), coupled with rice and a nice veggie blend - heaven itself! The rice was also incredibly flavorful - and I LOVED the roasted plantains - a perfect accompaniment! Absolutely would get again. The chicken

This is top quality, fresh food. Located inside the Blossom Market Food Hall in San Gabriel, this place is a gem! They make everything from scratch including their pastries and guava mango drink. I had the oxtails, rice & peas, sweet plantains and seasoned cabbage. The oxtails were perfect and falling off the bone. No thick gravy to mask untasty meat as I've seen other places do, here the meat was seasoned well and tender. Most places screw up the rice & peas, but not here. I'm a rice and beans momma so it was refreshing to finally find a restaurant that knows how to make tasty rice (not just bland boiledness) The guava drink was sweet and tasty. I ordered Jamaican beef patties to go. The staff very friendly. In fact I called before I came and spoke to Chef Sinny who patiently ga

This spot by far has the best Caribbean food I've had in the greater L.A. area. My favorite is the oxtail, it comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and fried plantain... they make their rice proper, with coconut milk! They also serve dishes like roti and jerk chicken, all the food is really delicious! This little restaurant is located inside of a food mall, there is seating inside, as well as some tables and chairs outside. Oh, and let me not forget to mention the drinks: sour sop, sorrel, pineapple ginger, guava... they are all really fresh and super tasty! The owners are Guyanese, so the food is truly authentic Caribbean!

Yesterday was my first time eating here, and it definitely met my expectations! I even met chef/owner Yonette who was a gracious and sweet lady. The recommended oxtail stew was delicious and flavorful (expect boney), and good combo portions. Wish there was more of the sweet plantains though. I asked for their hot pepper sauce, and it added a nice kick to the food! The pineapple tart was the BOMB; so sweet & buttery warm goodness! Omg, I finished that scrumptious tart on the drive home—make sure you eat it hot. I’ll definitely go back and try the chicken curry and jerk chicken!
