Good quality Japanese BBQ. Staff were polite and friendly. Lunch time is less crowded. Was able to get quality time over good food with my partner. I also saw lunch special menu that I would consider going back by myself to enjoy little special lunch meal.
One of the best Yakiniku restaurants in the city. My wife and I come here at least once a month. If you are looking for high quality Japanese bbq then this is your spot. The hospitality team here is phenomenal, special shoutout to our server Ahmed.
Great Japanese BBQ spot! Our server, Stacey, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and clearly working incredibly hard to take care of everyone. Prices were very reasonable, and everything we ordered tasted amazing. She even surprised us with hot tea and mochi ice cream for dessert. Highly recommend!
Top notch quality meats and superb flavorful sides are accompanied by stellar customer service!! These servers work sooo hard to make sure you have the best meal and experience everrrrr!!! Truly amazing hospitality skills , engaging , welcoming and super fun Miss S was our favorite and most attentive waitress!!! Don’t think twice, just run to get here! Wholesome Experience!
Yakiniku Gen is a fantastic spot for high-quality Japanese BBQ in Manhattan. The standout dish for me was the gyutan (beef tongue)—perfectly sliced, incredibly tender, and grilled to bring out a rich, savory flavor without being heavy. It’s easily some of the best tongue I’ve had in the city. I was also pleasantly surprised by the potato salad. Simple but done exceptionally well—creamy, well-seasoned, and a great balance to the grilled meats. It’s one of those side dishes you don’t expect to remember, but you absolutely do. The overall quality of the food is excellent, with authentic flavors and careful preparation. If you’re looking for real Japanese yakiniku, especially standout gyutan and thoughtfully made sides, Yakiniku Gen is definitely worth a visit.
