My cohorts and I found ourselves on Rte. 2 near Montpelier when my driver stated, "We should stop somewhere for lunch". This task fell on me to do a quick search, when I see a sign...This is when we stumbled upon a diner serving Travellers since 1918...My cohorts and I noted this place was hopping. We went inside. No reservations and your place in line is based on the honor system. The hostess was so nice and diplomatic. She assured people that you will be seated quick...despite the business we were quickly seated. This restaurant is huge. There was a large party in the back. Lots of neat nooks with booths tucked into these sections throughout. There was a pellet stove in the back but it was not on. Our server was really nice. She came over, took drink orders and quickly returned. I had an

Magnificent diner, with exceptional prices, great service, and splendid fare. A dream come true!! The cappuccino with whipped cream was a standout.

It's been a few months since I visited. I remember formulating a review in my mind about this place but I may have given up writing anything because I'm never going back. I do remember being annoyed that they charged me $6 for half a pancake. I recommend you avoid this place. They just seemed unprofessional here. Look at the portion size on the home fries. Loved the cups lined up behind the booth. These were the tip cups. Restaurants like this are so ingrained in what they're doing, they can never step back and evaluate. This is the most unsafe place to put worker's tips; there has to be a better way.

Sadly, I have to give this place ONE STAR. I have been coming for years and ordering pies for Thanksgiving for years as well. But this year, out of the four pies that I ordered (2 apple, 1 pumpkin, 1 raspberry) - only two of them were actually edible for any length of time. I picked them up on the day before Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving, I opened up one of the Apples and it was completely filled with more liquid, than actual filling. it was a soggy mess. I emailed immediately, hoping to hear back in a couple of days but sadly, nothing. Then on Friday, I opened the pumpkin and it immediately tasted off, but thought oh well it must not have been a good pie making here for them. We went for breakfast with our baby. Great food, friendly personnel and such a great experience for us, coming all the way from Spain. The pancakes are delicious. Highly recommended.
