Washington Street Lodging

While visiting my Dad at Rose Haven in St. Helena we decided to stay at pet friendly Washington St. Lodging. We arrived yesterday 5/6 and were very impressed with the lay back manner that exist here and the colorful cottages that surround the large wooden deck beckoning anyone to sit and relax for awhile. We're in cottage 3 and the same relaxed felling exist here also. Not large but so comfortable with double entry to patio from both sitting room & bedroom surrounded by lush greenery with creek below. The walk to town is a short distance and so enjoyable with so many great eateries to choose from. This was our second stay at the Washington Street Lodging and both times we were in room 3, which has a a nice deck overlooking the river. Our family rented the whole place a few years ago during my niece's wedding and we had been wanting to stay there again. We like the casual comfort and quaintness of the charming cottages and communal outdoor area. The short walk to dining and shopping on the main street allows you to leave your car parked safely off the street in the parking area between the cottages and main house. Cottage 3 has a small sitting room, efficiency kitchen and a large bedroom. It is immaculately clean and well maintained inside, although the outdoor area is somewhat cob webby. This was our first stay in Calistoga. We were traveling with our dog, so we went to the visitor's center for a list of pet friendly places. I got sticker shock from most of the choices in Calistoga. Then I came across Washington Street Lodging. What a find! The cottage had charming decor, a beautiful patio/garden area, was pet friendly, quiet and at a reasonable rate. Having a functional kitchen in the cottage allowed us to prepare a romantic meal. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again at the Washington Street Lodging cottages.

Our go to place for lodging in Calistoga. Beautiful, relaxing setting and actually under $200 for a night, which is becoming a rare occurrence in wine country. They also allow and love well behaved pets which is important for us. The owners are on site and they are awesome! Been coming here about 20 years now, at least several times during the year. They are small, only 5 cottages, so reservations ahead of time is definitely a must.

Located in a residential neighborhood, there are a half dozen charmingly decorated cabins that share a common courtyard/deck. I'm pretty sure they all have small but adequate kitchens. locally ground coffee is provided. It was a short and pleasant walk to downtown Calistoga.||There is one caveat on the claim of 'quiet': next door is a monastery that marks the 7 PM hour with a melodious gong... I liked it.||We spoke with several of the guests and except for ourselves, they were repeat customers, having been there many times over many years.||I would have given this an EXCELLENT rating except that my husband found the bed to be uncomfortable.
