Good home cooking. Popular to the locals. We eat here occasionally. Tonight wasn’t their best but it’s not unusual. Country fried steak was good. Not Cracker Barrel good but ok. The okra was fresh & hot. The fried squash was 1/2 hot & 1/2 old & cold. Yuk. Not too crowded at 5pm but took a long time to order then the steak came out about 15 long mins later. My wife’s $22 pork chop came out just as I was finishing. And I ate very slowly. She said it tasted great! Disappointing experience overall. Going out to dinner: eat together, hot & fresh food, good value, good service. How hard is it: 2meals to the table at the same time. Trash the old, fried veggies to ensure each serving is served hot. At $45 plus tip, not a good value imho. We’ll try again in a few months.
Noticed this place while we were strolling around so we came in for early breakfast a few days later. I enjoyed the omelette and the rye toast. Staff was friendly and place has a great neighborhood vibe.
Virlie's Grill is one of my favorite eateries in Pittsboro. I drive from Raleigh to have breakfast with a friend at least twice a month. It's a simple cafe with simple fare. But the breakfasts are really good and very reasonably priced. They close at noon on Saturdays, so the place can get crowded. Yesterday it was absolutely packed with lines of people just waiting for a table. This was unusual, as we usually get a table right away. Try to get there before 9:30 and you might avoid the rush.
Awesome little spot, got the wings and chicken fried steak with onion rings and a loaded potato. Everything was awesome, will be back when I’m in the area. Toyotomi the Shogun of Snaxx says “Yo, Check it out” 5 out of 5 Katana’s on the Shogun Scale
I love the restaurant and I've been going there for many years, but today I felt very sad. We waited a long time, which I understand because there were a lot of people, but what bothered me was that they seated people who arrived after us, showing favoritism. I overheard them saying, "Seat us first," while they weren't seating us. We decided to leave after waiting an hour.
