Viktor Benes Continental Bakery

The bakery is beautiful, and the baked pastries are absolutely delicious! I stopped in to say hi to an old friend and grab some treats as I was in the neighborhood. I was assisted by a gentleman named Tim, who was simply delightful. The experience an atmosphere was a great start to another beautiful California day! Thank you.🤗

Ordered a cake for my daughters birthday. They asked what we want on it. I said it's narwhal and under the sea themed and gave them one of our plates to use AS INSPIRATION. They took a low res picture of the plate and printed it onto the cake. I could have done that myself at home. I honestly can not fathom anyone thinking this was appropriate. And to make matters worse the party is tomorrow and they have nobody who can fix it. Honestly so disappointed as we have spent thousands of dollars on Victor benes baked good over decades. They even increased their prices recently, but it seems they simultaneously reduced the quality.

This was my first visit to this Gelson’s and I didn’t know that the bakery was separate from the store. I walked up and asked for some mini rugalach. I was going to ask for more of another kind of cookie but the man behind the counter was in so much of a hurry that he just printed out my ticket at the scale and walked me to the counter. I had other items from the store so I asked if I could pay for them here , I got a very curt “No” . This experience was very off putting. I don’t think I will purchase anything there again. I didn’t get his name, he was a younger looking Hispanic man. But definitely will spend my money elsewhere.

My go-to bakery. Fresh pastries and cookies, baked on the premises. Some of my favorites are cherry danishes, chocolate croissants, chocolate meringue cookies with nuts, rum cookies, rugallahs ... Too many to name them all!

Excellent pastry and pies and cakes! Especially Vienna tart and poppy seeds ring! Expert and friendly staff.
