Viking Garden Restaurant

Hair in my herring. Clam chowder was served cold. Asked for water without ice. They gave me water with ice. When I let them know, they gave me a filthy glass to pour the water into to drink. Thank goodness I had my own water. I ordered the herring, which is supposed to come with rye and beets. This is what I got: no rye, no beets. When asked, they told me "the kitchen must have run out." Okay why not tell me this before so I can order something else? Children's grilled cheese looks like Kraft's single microwaved into white bread. What are these people doing? Slow, rude service. Incompetent and gross. There wasn't a line here, so we asked to be seated. Our mistake -- will follow the crowds next time.

We came in because it was open and walkable from our hotel. We couldn't find anything that looked like a hostess' stand and ended up wandering up to the bar. I think that there were 4 tables with people at them, and we were told to take our pick from the rest of the place. My lovely wife unerringly picked the one table that needed to be wiped. {eye roll} The menu reads fantastic. Everything sounded great. Ended up with Sausage Platters. She had the Knockwurst, I had the Polska Kielbasa and the Bratwurst. Our food was fresh and hot, which was nice. My brat looked good and didn't taste bad. Both her knockwurst and my kielbasa looked like something straight out of Sysco, and unfortunately tasted like it as well. During peak season, it's best to avoid this place. There's a complete lack of organization among the staff, from customer service to food service. It might be better during the off-season, but during peak season they simply don't have enough staff or a proper organizational system.

I ordered the biksemad... I added roasted Danish rye bread.... COMFORT FOOD!!! sirloin, red cabbage, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy, grilled onions, fried egg.... Next time I will order this dinner with an extra fried egg.... Service was excellent... Atmosphere encourages conversation... They have dining at the counter/bar.. a huge inside dining area and a large outdoor garden to dine... You have plenty of choices... This restaurant also has the capacity to hold large gatherings...

Wanted to try some place new: Disappointing - Waste of Money When my family and I walked in there were a few patrons. No one greeted us. We stood there looking around. I saw a woman eating at the back where a young man was working with the utensils. First, I would like to mention that myself and my son have worked in the food industry and to walk in with no greeting and see your server eating before taking your order is an alarm-no washing hands. Plus, we observed the young man wiping the knives with a cloth only to pick them up with his fingers afterward to place them into the knife holders-sanitation issue again.
