Spur of the moment stop on our way to Ocean City. Needed to stretch and have a sweet treat. Definitely worth the stop. Delicious I’ve cream, friendly service. Enjoyed our ice cream watching the cows in the field and the sun set. Thanks!

This Vanderwende’s is definitely worth a stop if you like freshly made quality ice cream. They have a nice outdoor covered area to relax and enjoy the cows as you eat (as long as you don’t have a problem with farm aromas). The “kids scoop” for $5 is quite sufficient for the average adult. I got a scoop of coconut with wet walnuts (see video) and was plenty satisfied with the quality and quantity. It’s a Delaware tradition, so highly recommend you give it a try if you happen to be driving by this unique spot in the middle of eastern shore farmland. 🐮🐄

The ice cream here is so worth a stop. They have many flavors and the ones I tried were all sweetly delicious. A single scoop is like a triple scoop at a regular chain ice cream parlor. The flavor of the black raspberry, peach and apple pie are particularly exquisite. This stop can fill up fast, but it’s worth the wait. We got lucky and beat the after lunch rush. Once you get your scoop(s), have a seat near the cows 🐮

Not only is their ice cream absolutely delicious, but their cinnamon buns with generous portions of nuts and raisins are the very BEST ever!!! The only place I know which is willing to divide a single scoop into two flavors🤗 The coconut ice cream has large chucks of chewy coconut and the mocha almond fudge contains full size almonds. Although the bathroom has only one single use toilet, it is very handicapped accessible with grab bars and always clean. A single scoop of their amazing ice cream is big enough for a whole meal, so stop at Vanderwende’s for lunch, dinner or anytime in between!

This had been a no brainer stop for the family with delicious ice cream and a convenient location. However, the recent price increases have made this a tougher stop to justify. The price for 2 scoops of ice cream went from $7 to $10 which I’m still having trouble wrapping my head around.
