We were thrilled to find out that Utopia was open on a Monday! We were back in Maine on a short getaway. From start to finish, our meal was perfect. It was a fine dining experience from amazing mock tails to cocktails. All made with fresh ingredients. We were never rushed through our meals, but not ever ignored by Justin or the wait staff. The main courses did not disappoint! My husband had a steak that was presented to perfection and the flavor was mouthwatering. I had the Eggplant Rollatini. It was remarkable also in flavor and texture. Hats off to Chef Greg on an amazing dining experience! From taste, texture, flavor, to presentation! I have to say that we both love to cook, and fresh ingredients are so important. That is certainly what Utopia has to offer. We will definitely be back so
I'm not someone who often leaves reviews but my fianceè and I visited Utopia this weekend for the first time and it was phenomenal! We got to meet the owner & she was incredibly sweet and told us about how she grows her own vegetables and that her mission is to prepare and serve food that is fulfilling and energizing and we couldn't agree more! We had dinner, dessert, and drinks and had no complaints about any of them! The price point is very reasonable among the other restaurants in the area, and especially both comparable and affordable compared to those on the more upscale end of things.
The service was impeccable but beware of paying through the nose for the specials... we ordered the special appetizer chickpea and kelp fritters in a marinara sauce. They were just okay, not worth $19 for a starter. I ordered the special "vegan filet mignon" over black garlic risotto. The risotto dish was a small portion and had too much heat from the chilies. I barely touched the risotto but didn't want to send the dish back because the vegan filet (made from jackfruit) was very special. I was shocked to see a $47 charge for that dish. Our meal was extraordinarily expensive for not a lot of food. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly because of their lack of transparent pricing. However, the drinks were excellent and as long as you understand the cost
We ordered Moussaka and Brined Duck. But duck did not smell good and Moussaka did not have enough salt. Overall, the price was so expensive than its quality.
Good food (not amazing). Good presentation. But not worth the price they're charging. Even if it is locally sourced. Friendly staff and good service. If a restaurant charges $30-$50 for an entree, it should come with a soup or salad, or at least some bread.
