The burgers and mashed potatoes were the stars of the show, but liked everything overall. Only thing I didn’t love was the dijonnaise on the brat (just personal taste). Big fan of the whole Old Fashioned section on the menu, and our server was super helpful. Would definitely go back.

This place has only recently opened, but they are serving the best burger in town. The up north burger and cheese curd burgers are outstanding! Perfectly cooked both times I’ve eaten there. We have tried the fries, mashed potatoes, mushrooms and broccoli for sides, all lovely. Tried the truffle mushroom flatbread as well, and it was solid! Husband & wife owners, and their team made us feel welcomed and special. Have not tried axe throwing yet, but we did toss some darts. Check this place out, you will not be disappointed.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Up North Axe and Tap, and the experience exceeded expectations on every level. I ordered the brisket burger, and I can confidently say it was the best brisket I’ve had in the state of Illinois. The meat was perfectly smoked—juicy, savory, and tender. What stood out most was the balance of flavors: the barbecue sauce complemented the brisket without overpowering it, and the bun was an excellent choice, branded with the restaurant’s logo for a distinctive touch. The generous portion of fries on the side made the meal complete. My wife ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which impressed me just as much, if not more. After sharing bites, I was struck by the thoughtful combination of flavors and textures. The sandwich had an aromatic quality with a

Definitely a must if you like good food, unreal drinks, and a great atmosphere! Local owners, which my husband and I love. I’ve been twice. Took my girlfriend for her birthday and had the best wings of her life. And went on a date with my husband and had a blast throwing axes and staying late for smoked drinks! Staff is friendly, bathrooms are cute, clean, and even the soap blew me away! Details matter, and they hit that on the head. So much soul and personal touch has been put into decor, taste, and experience.

The food at Up North is outstanding - we go a few times a month. If we get there early enough, their happy hour deals are great: $10 flatbread and selected $5 beers. The restaurant is in half of the building with the axe throwing in the front half. When you're in the restaurant, you'd never know there's ax throwing up front. The decor is a fun feel of Northwoods. Every server and bartender we've interacted with has been great - professional yet fun and attentive. We can't wait for the nice weather so we can enjoy their patio dining. I highly recommend Up North.
