My parents are from Sichuan/Chongqing and I can tell you this is easily one of the best, if not the best, Sichuan/Chongqing spicy Chinese food restaurants. They use fresh red chilies in many of their dishes. Some other dishes feature freshly ground green peppercorn, and various kinds of pickled chilies. If you’re an expert in Sichuan cuisine, then you’d know that the peppercorns need to be freshly ground and the chilies need to be freshly picked as well, and this place does exactly that. The spice level for the dishes here are truly authentic, and they add some creative twists to traditional recipes as well , e.g. the cold chicken appetizer is a modern twist of the classical “mouth watering chicken”, except they use fresh limes instead of vinegar, and fresh mint leaves instead of cilantro.
Incredibly gas Chinese food in Manhattan! We got the 干煸四季豆, Mapo Tofu, Xiaolongbao and one more chicken dish I can't remember. Everything was exquisite with a deep and fresh taste without too much MSG. In particular the dumplings were so juicy. 10/10 would recommend!
We came here as a group of three and ordered four dishes — everything was fantastic! The Peking duck was absolutely bomb, and the spicy fried chicken was another favorite. Service was great, and Jasmin gave us amazing recommendations that made the meal even better. Definitely coming back for sure!
While I may not have eaten all the soup dumplings in the Big Apple, I know that the ones I have eaten were not particularly good. Here at uluh’s the pork soup dumplings are the finest in all of Manhattan. These have wafer thin translucent skin bursting with hot flavorful broth and enough meat. This was my second visit. I enjoyed it. The scallion pancakes with shredded duck on the other hand was served almost cold. I ate it but complained to the server. Last lunch I ate tasty beef ribs with rice as rice is not included with a dish. The restaurant is pretty and large. The location is excellent as it's bang next to La Cabra.
We love the pecking duck and the pickled cabbage fish here. In general, the food is VERY spicy. I usually have to mild and it’s still very spicy but manageable. The green beans and crab roe tofu are also great choices. For appetizers their little pan fried buns are delicious. Lines can be pretty long on weekends around prime dinner time, but we came for Sunday dinner and were able to walk right in! There are around 4-5 outdoor tables as well. Interior is beautiful and a great place for a date, dinner w friends, or take your parents out. I would focus on the food and skip the dessert. Very authentic and clean tasting Chinese food - not greasy. One of my favorites for sure. Takeout is great as well!
