Triple Eight’s Buffet Republic

We ordered take out and the chicken lo mein was very dry. No sauces were offered or even in the bag. The fried dumplings had an odd taste about them. This is the second time we have tried them.

I had food before from this location and it wasn’t stellar. That was over a year ago so I thought I’d try again. Well I won’t try a third time. I stopped to get garlic beef to take home and asked to substitute bamboo shoots for water chestnuts, just to be told they didn’t know what bamboo shoots were. Ok, that’s fine so I just got the garlic beef. Once I got home, not only did the garlic beef not have any water chestnuts in it. It also didn’t have beef in it, it was chicken. The chicken also had a funny texture and tasted weird. The rice was good though.

First and foremost, they did great with the new lay out! I was very impressed with the aesthetic, but now to the most important part the new buffet. I liked their take on the food on the buffet. It’s full of flavor! Now it’s definitely got spice, so just be prepared for that.

We came here when the electricity went out in Springfield due to the storm. The food was good. A small little buffet, but we left happy and satisfied. They got overrun by people towards the end as more people traveled over from Springfield. I am sure they were stressed, but they handled it well.

The general chicken is sweet with zero spice, I feel like I ruined my lunch by ordering it. It's supposed to be spicy, but this is so sweet it is almost inedible 😭 I really like some of the things Triple Eights has, but the specials only have a few options. I'd also like to see the Republic location include more of the items the Springfield location has.
