The owner and her employees really need to work on their character and attitudes. Especially the owner, she wears ide Ifa signifying she is Onisese but her attitude is so sour, it makes the traditions look bad. There is never a thank you, a hello, or warm greeting. Every time I see that woman behind the counter or speak to her she is looking and treating me and everyone there like they are an annoyance to her or she dislikes them. The men who are there when she isn’t aren’t any better. I don’t know what’s troubling them all but I’ve been going hear often for a while because the food is good. But I’m switching to another Nigerian spot after this visit because I’m tired of the way they act. I hope they see this and work on it before they lose all their customers. Not good.
On the way, Heading back home to TennesseeI ordered the Egusi soup, Ero soup, plantains, and turkey wing with fufu. OMG it was so good. Thank you for the hospitality and the service. I do look forward to seeing you next time, I am in town.
The place is very dirty and you can tell just from the front door entrance alone. The inside could use some cleaning as well. The lady serving the food looks Hispanic and appears miserable. No good customer service and each time I asked a question she seemed irritated. The Egusi was okay but the meat was very hard!!!! Like it was barely cooked. Pounded yam was big and tasted funny, not what I prepare at home.
Toyin was a complete pleasure to eat in. The staff is very friendly and ready to introduce you to authentic Nigerian cuisine. Everyone in the restaurant was Nigerian and they said this was their favorite place to go. The prices were very reasonable and you get a large helping of food. I'm not entirely sure what I ate because a nice Nigerian gentleman behind ordered for me, but it was a spicy spinach and melon seed stew with flavors I can't really compare to anything else. The fufu that you eat with it was to die for. The tilapia was also delicious. However, be aware that it is not deboned if you order it if you don't eat much fish. I can't wait to try more Nigerian food! I recommend that everyone should come and try Toyin- Nigerian Cuisine.
Stopped by for some amala and ewedu. It was the end of the day so they were out of a few things but service was friendly. Restaurant is small but clean and prices are decent. The amala was quite tasty and the meat was not too tough as is typical with most Naija spots.
