Just tried the new Lao Dongbei in Flushing and it instantly became my go-to for Northeastern Chinese food! Portions are huge, prices are very reasonable, and everything tastes authentic. Highly recommend the Sha Zhu Cai (Killing the Pig Hotpot) with tender blood sausage and sauerkraut broth, the super crispy Guo Bao Rou (sweet & sour pork), and the fall-off-the-bone Braised Pork Bones. Don’t miss the Braised Pork Hock, Di San Xian (potato, eggplant & pepper), and the addictive Salted Egg Yolk Corn. If you’re craving hearty Dongbei comfort food, this place won’t disappoint!

This new spot Lao Dongbei in Flushing is a gem! Portions are crazy big and prices are super fair. Feels just like hearty home-cooked food. The Sha Zhu Cai hotpot comes steaming with sauerkraut broth and blood sausage that’s softer than tofu – perfect with rice. The Guo Bao Rou is super crispy with that sweet & sour glaze, and the braised pork bones are huge – they even give you straws to sip the marrow 😂. Loved the braised pork hock and classic Di San Xian too. Oh, and don’t skip the salted egg yolk corn – addictive like Dongbei-style popcorn. Definitely a must-try for anyone craving real Northeastern Chinese food!

Super authentic no frills spot for northern Chinese food and not to mention the HUGE portions. They gave us some recommendations and loved everything. Def recommend the fried pork - it’s fried three times but it’s so airy and good. Also got their northeast stew, cold noodles and honey glazed potatoes.

A brand-new spot just opened in Flushing – Lao Dongbei – and it brought all the hearty flavors of Northeast China right to the table this Mid-Autumn Festival🔥. The portions are HUGE, prices are super reasonable, and every dish feels like a full-on Dongbei feast 🥢. Here are some of the must-try signature dishes: 1️⃣ “Killing the Pig” Hotpot (Sha Zhu Cai) – A giant steaming pot that instantly sets the festive mood🎉. The blood sausage is softer than tofu, and the sauerkraut broth is so good you’ll want three bowls of rice with it🍚. 2️⃣ Guo Bao Rou (Sweet & Sour Pork) – Crispy pork slices coated in an amber-colored sweet and sour glaze. Every bite makes that satisfying crunch sound – a true Dongbei classic👂. 3️⃣ Braised Big Pork Bones – Massive portions with marrow ready for you to slurp. T

This restaurant specializes in Northeastern Chinese cuisine but also offers a wide variety of Sichuan and other regional dishes. Although it's a relatively new establishment, it’s poised to become one of the go-to spots for Northeastern Chinese food outside of Flushing. One of the highlights is the Guo Bao Rou (crispy sweet-and-sour pork), which features a crisp exterior reminiscent of tempura and tender, flavorful pork inside. The dish is enhanced by a well-balanced sauce, making it even more enjoyable than traditional versions without straying too far from its roots. Another standout is the chef’s special vine pepper fresh fish — incredibly fresh, with bold, balanced seasoning that left a strong impression. The service is also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff. Overall, this
