GREAT IRISH BAR. WARM AND INVITING. LIVELY BANTER, AND OF COURSE; EXCELLENT GUINESS!!!!! Getting in the holiday spirit here and jumping the shark on thanksgiving. But what a great place. Something about it makes for easy and interesting conversation with strangers. IOW, a pub.
I'll start by saying that I typically don't write negative reviews unless the experience was especially bad and, unfortunately, I feel it's necessary in this case, if only to warn others. I'll start off with the good things. First, the cocktails are excellent. They have one hell of a bartending staff, and I was legitimately impressed. My negroni was well-balanced, and my partner's spritz was beautifully done. If you're just going for drinks, you could do a lot worse in Media. Second, the atmosphere is pretty good. It's a typical Irish pub vibe. Good lighting, nice decor, and the dining room was clean and tidy. Finally, our server (Harry, if I recall correctly) was kind, attentive, and professional throughout. Sadly, most of the food was disappointing at best, and inedible at worst; an
Food was pretty decent, atmosphere was nice and the waitress was pleasant. My complaints are that the appetizers came out fairly quick but the entrees took forever. I was no longer hungry, when they arrived Biggest issue is the menu online is different than the one in the restaurant. I took my wife there for Baked Potatoe soup and they no longer have it. The pricing is different too. I ordered cheesesteak egg rolls, which are listed at $14.00 online. The check arrived and they are $21.00 for 4 measly little egg roll halves. Complete rip off!
The food was amazing. The service was great. Everyone was really nice. Julia answered all of our many questions in regards to what was in each dish and what she would recommend. She was super sweet.
Is it a pub? Is it a restaurant? At 4pm it is the latter, but by 6 pm it is the former. Nevertheless two things holding the same space can only be pigeon held to certain compartments for so long before they bleed together and confound the total structure. The bathroom smells like fish, but not those fish from under water, but from underwear. The porcelain drain hole of the bathroom sink is cracked in and filled with shards and obscure rubbish. If this were solely a pub, it would be home. If it were a restaurant it would be a lovely place to dine. But I am truly ambivalent to qualify this place as either good or bad since it's being is teathered between two ends. Howrver, if you want to get drunk go here. If you want to bring a date here, go before the night. It is nice, but it confuses me.
