The Pointe

Attended a New Bern Chamber of Commerce after hours and was delighted at the offering The Pointe has. We sampled several items and they were flavorful and abundant. Amanda, the manager, and the waitstaff were gracious and a joy. From downtown, New Betn, its about 22 minutes. The have fish fries on Fridays, every other Saturday prime rib nights, Thursday night music. There is outdoor seating. Check it out!

Great expectations . . . Great disappointment. Shrimp appetizer was pretty but over cooked rubber and the breadng fell off when you picked it up. My husband's fish sandwich fell apart and the breading didn't stay on. I think my chili sat in the fridge for a week. I took about 2 bites of it. When the server took it away, she didn't ask anything. She had to of noticed that I didn't eat it. Some guy (I would guess the manager) was going all over the place and loudly schmoozingq. My goal was to get out as quickly as possible but that didn't happen. We did finally made it out never too return.

This was not the best experience. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was mediocre. Fried mushrooms were so well done the batter was dark brown and heavy on the stomach. The rest of the meal was pleasant, but nothing we would go out of our way for.

The food was so good tonight and has been consistently good for a while. So glad to have a spot like this close-by.

The overall experience was lackluster. Very small place and the staff was overwhelmed and I'd say it was 75% capacity. I ordered the fish tacos and was very very disappointed. The Mahi was over cooked and lacked flavor. The white taco shell was stale. The home made chips tasted like dirty oil. Our cheese block appetizer was over cooked as well, they came out dark brown and bitter tasting. Worst of all my wife's water and my sweet tea tasted like pool/hose water. The portions do not match the pricing. Will not return.
