What a lovely and exquisite inn! The Norumbega is an architectural delight with incredible woodwork and beautiful interior design elements at every turn, having been lovingly restored by its proprietors, Will and Brett, who along with their innkeeper, Abby, are welcoming and hospitable. They have a Peruvian chef, and the meals there were outstanding. Dinner is small plates with locally sourced ingredients, and breakfast each day was incredible. I have to maintain a gluten free diet, and that was the only place we stayed during our two week plus trip in Maine, in which I did not feel that my menu choices (especially at breakfast) were limited. And we stayed in inns from Bar Harbor to Kennebunk, some of which were more expensive. ||Soaps were hand-crafted; blankets were cozy, and I believ
We absolutely fell in love with the Norumbega! We came for a few nights on our honeymoon and it was so wonderful relaxing here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The inn is just stunning and we loved looking at all the little details throughout. We dined at the restaurant on our first night and it was our favorite meal of our entire trip. The cocktails were amazing as well. Our room was the Sandringham in the turret and we loved everything about it. We hope to come back in the future and will always remember this as a highlight of our honeymoon!
This hotel was a dream. I stayed in the Sandringham room and it was well suited to a winter getaway with a fireplace and deep soaking tub. The fresh made breakfast every day was an amazing experience way to start the day. The staff was attentive and helpful in giving local recommendations. I thoroughly enjoyed the week there and would highly recommend it!
The Norumbega deserves all its accolades, and has got to be my best stay to-date. It’s hard for me to imagine that #1 spot being overtaken anytime soon, in my book. This was a staycation during February. The accommodations are outstanding and the service is top-notch. The morning of our arrival, I received a text message asking for me to clarify our arrival time. I did this, and when we arrived, Abby the innkeeper was expecting us, gave us a grand tour of the place, and showed us everything we needed to know about our room, including how to operate the gas fireplace, which was such a treat in the wintertime. I found the bed and linens to be extremely comfortable, the room to be easily adjustable to the perfect temperature, and the lighting to be tweakable to just-right. The guest pantry
We are frequent flyers at this amazing spot. My husband & I stayed in the Library Suite over the Thanksgiving holiday & absolutely loved it. I can’t overstate how charming the whole property is. Breakfast is excellent, & the overall service and experience really couldn’t be better. If you are looking for a unique and elevated stay, this is absolutely the right fit.
