The Meltaway bakery

I came to try the donuts, tried some extra snacks while I was there. Of the donuts the boston cream was the best, had a lot of filling and great dough texture. The glazed was very soft, but had an odd after taste, not sure if if they used a different dough. Then the apple cider was good, just slightly dry. The cannoli was shocking good, the shell was great and had really good structural integrity and didn't get soggy after sitting for awhile. The eclair Cake, was really good, reminded me of a radio bar from Bella Napoli, just w/o the marshmallow filling.

Sometimes in life, the universe throws you a curveball—like when the 70th birthday cake you ordered for your uncle from another bakery never shows up. Panic mode? Activated. And then, like a scene straight out of a Hallmark movie, I discovered The Meltaway Bakery in Saugerties, NY. From the very first phone call, I knew this place was special. The employee I spoke with was the kind of person every bakery dreams of having at their counter: knowledgeable, kind, and so willing to help that I wanted to nominate her for sainthood. I explained my cake crisis, and she didn’t even flinch—she said, “We’ve got you.” And oh, did they ever. Friendly and delicious! I‘m visiting my brother and live in Germany and these were some of the best donuts I’ve ever had! Best glazed donuts ever!

I wanted to find a bakery on my way home from my haircut appointment in Saugerties. My google search came up with this lovely bakery that was actually open on a Wednesday. It’s a small place yet light and airy inside. There’s no seating inside though. The many pastries looked delicious so I ordered every lemon flavored pastry they had as well as gigantic cream puff. Everything was so tasty and lovingly made. The service was also friendly and warm. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

My family and I visited the area for a long weekend. I called ahead to order a cannoli cake for my sisters birthday and some cannolis. My family went to pick up the order and said it smelled so yummy in the bakery. They also said the staff were really sweet and kind. My family also picked up sugar cookies with sprinkles and oatmeal raisin cookies. Let me tell you - everything was SOOOO GOOOOOOD!!! I can’t even describe it. Everything was so tasty and fresh. The cookies were literally like butter, so soft and not overly sweet. The cake was amazing as were the cannolis. I literally consider driving up again just for their sweets. Can’t wait to be in the area again!
