The Mayne Dish

This was my first time dining at The Mayne Dish and it definitely will not be my last. The food was seasoned to absolute perfection. You can tell Tamari knows exactly what she’s doing in the kitchen because every bite was flavorful and well balanced. The service was excellent as well. The gentleman who brought our food out was very professional and even used hand sanitizer before handling anything, which I personally appreciate. Cleanliness clearly matters here. There is also hand sanitizer available on the tables, which made the whole experience feel even more thoughtful and comfortable. The ambiance is beautiful and really gives a warm Jamaican vibe. I’m a very honest reviewer, and I don’t play when it comes to people spending their hard-earned money. I decided to try this spot because I was craving some oxtail and saw the great reviews. I ordered the small oxtail meal, which was $26 — the most expensive item on the menu. When I got my food, I was honestly disappointed. My plate came with only four small pieces of oxtail, along with rice and peas and mac & cheese. On top of that, there was an upcharge for the mac & cheese, bringing my total to about $30 (including a drink). Now, don’t get me wrong — the food tasted good. But for $30, the portion was absolutely not worth it. This was maybe $15 worth of food at best. I truly feel like I was overcharged, and I wouldn’t recommend coming here for oxtail unless they fix their portions or p

Just heard of this small jewel although I've driven past it many times. Decided to give it a try. Was not disappointed. I ordered the jerk chicken and ox tails. Both came with cabbage, and rice and beans. The jerk chicken was a bit spicy but very good. The ox tails were delicious. The rice and cabbage were good. I will go back to try other menu items, but those two were a hit!

I wish I could say more about this food. This is my second time trying it and first time I got sick from being pregnant but I thought it was just the pregnancy. But I tried it again and yeah it's not tasty to me and it could use more seasoning. Then for $26 the portion size for these oxtails they could have put another one on there. I barely had 4 oxtails in my platter and it's kind of lightweight. Most likely won't be trying again.
