The Lantern Of Lake Forest

Delicious food. Clean restaurant. The server was excellent. Highly recommend eating here. There’s a train track around the ceiling that has trains circling. I love the old photos framed throughout the restaurant of the town.

Three of us showed up for dinner on a cold December Sunday. Place wasn’t crowded, just a smattering of customers. Seated right away the server quickly got a drink order. Shortly thereafter we ordered a burger, sloppy joe, chili & curds. All arrived fast & hot. All good too. We’ll Definitely be back.

I went there to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately it was a big disappointment. They did not have enough servers, and it took almost an hour for us to receive our meals. I ordered the cod with sweet potato, but the fish was fried too hard. This was only my second visit in ten years, and based on this experience, I’m not sure I would return again.

I recently ordered carry-out from the Lantern of Lake Forest, and the meal was fantastic. The Reuben sandwich was easily one of the best I’ve had—perfectly balanced, flavorful, and held up great for the ride home. It was accompanied by a side of fries that served as a pleasant and crispy addition to the sandwich. I also ordered the potato skins, and I was seriously impressed by how well-stuffed they were; the kitchen definitely didn't skimp on the toppings. Even as a carry-out order, the quality of the food was top-notch. I’ll definitely be ordering that Reuben again!

The vibes here are unmatched! The bartenders make your experience so fun! I was a little disappointed they didn’t give me a Guinness glass, but my boyfriend and I had a great time here. I would certainly go back!
