My wife and I stayed here in August 2025 for 3 nights with a group of friends during the Shepherdstown Play Festival. It was a great experience. One of the best B&B’s we’ve ever stayed at.|The Inn is located in Sharpsburg, Maryland, just next to the cemetery of the Antietam battlefield and a couple of miles from the charming and culturally rich town of Shepherstown, West Virginia. It’s also an easy drive to the Antietam Battlefield and Harper’s Ferry. The area around the Inn has a beautiful old world rural feeling.|The innkeepers, Miriam and Will, are delightful and really helpful. Will offered to bring our bags in even though we were on the ground floor. Miriam was very helpful with tips about the area and the breakfast was tasty with a decent amount of choice. Just completed our 3rd visit here. We have stayed in numerous bed and breakfast inns around the country. The Inn at Antietam is, bar none, the best you will ever find! Miriam and Will are the most gracious and hospitable hosts, going out of their way to make you feel that this is your home away from home and the breakfasts are superb! They are both a wealth of information about this historic area. The furnishings throughout the house and in the guest rooms are exquisite and remarkably comfortable. And Hamish, the dog, is an added bonus!
Our four-day stay at the Inn could not have been more perfect! Will and Miriam are delightful hosts, friendly and warm, accommodating and flexible. Their knowledge of the area and a broad range of other topics makes them helpful and fascinating conversationalists, just plain fun with whom to talk. Very conveniently situated, close to the National Cemetery and Battlefield, the well-kept Inn itself is engaging, with elegant, informative, and whimsical decor, replete with everything from seasonal displays to books galore to items that evoke Will’s British heritage to Lego and other impressive small projects to local historical relics. Our rooms were thoughtfully appointed, with comfy beds, modern bathrooms, and period furniture. And the breakfasts!!! Every morning included a selecti
This inn is a gem. Clearly, Miriam and Will are passionate about welcoming guests and making them feel comfortable. They prepare delicious gourmet breakfasts every morning, accompanied by fresh juice, freshly made baked goods, homemade granola and excellent coffee. They're also delightful to talk with and have extensive knowledge of local history and area attractions. The location is great, high on a hill and minutes from Antietam Battlefield & Cemetery, Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry. The inn has been carefully renovated and tastefully decorated to preserve its period charm. We stayed in the 2-room Capitol Suite, which has a very comfortable King bed and modern, well-designed bathroom. We also enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs on the inn's front porch. We hope to visit again soon.
As Autumn 2025 drew to a close, we had the opportunity to squeeze in a trip to Sharpsburg, MD and once again stay at the Inn at Antietam. Will and Miriam Cunningham are friendly and welcoming Innkeepers, who attend to every detail with an informal yet professional touch. They are assisted by Hamish, who must be the perfect Innkeeper's dog. Hamish greets the guests in a low key and gentlemanly manner that adds to the ambiance. The Inn's appearance continues to compliment the rich history of the region, and Civil War volumes abound on shelves throughout the beautiful mansion. The rooms are comfortable and only the promise of the splendid breakfast motivates an early rise. Will and Miriam mix healthy choices with some of the indulgent comfort food we crave because "we are on vacation."
