The House of Pita (Murphys)

We stumbled upon this wonderful eating joint on our way from the woods to city life. The place has a lot more promise than it delivered for us, but surely worth a try. Tried their chicken kabob in a pita as well as entree plate - both had a dry chewy taste and not the usual juiciness that you expect from Mediterranean cuisine. The salmon was delicious and well served with the salad. Fries probably were the best part of our meal ;). Service is top notch and we really appreciated the effort put by our server who went above and beyond. Outside seating on a hot day was perfect for our 4 legged friend. Do try.

We stumbled upon this small kebab place in Murphys when we were starving, and it was one of the few spots still open. We ordered the pita wrap with beef, and it turned out to be absolutely delicious. Everything was prepared right in front of us, so the meat and vegetables were fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. It was exactly what we needed! We’ll definitely be coming back.

This place is great. We had one of the best Greek salads ever yesterday. We opted for the chicken and gyro add on. Wow. Meat was perfectly prepared. All ingredients were fresh, crispy and the dressing was fabulous. We had a side of pita and yogurt dip which was delicious and the perfect compliment for the salad. The Pitas were perfectly bite size too. Our waitress Nandia (sp?) was great - she couldn't have done a better job making us feel welcome and serving us a delicious meal. The restaurant is the latest occupant of a great space right on Main Street in Murphy's and is a classical example of a gold rush building. Whether you are looking for Greek food or just a great meal, try this place out. You won't be disappointed. We certainly weren't!!!

The restroom was very clean. The food was overall good, but they need to reconsider revamping up their spice rack. At least offer spicy versus mild (offer this option on this menu) The staff was very friendly. The veggies were salty, but I imagine that’s the taste of the region. The calamari was good, but least some black pepper to add a layer to my senses. I won’t deduct a star for the lack of spices because it lacked depth of flavor, but then I am used to spicy food which isn’t meant for the demographics of this village. Food seemed freshly made on the spot.

The food is delicious and clearly made with quality ingredients. It's definitely worth the drive, especially if you haven't tried it yet. We'll be back!
