The Historic Herren House

Convenient, but would never stay again. No lock on bedroom door except deadbolt from the inside (couldn't lock when leaving), kitchen has too many code violations to count, access code I was given opened someone else's room! So many other choices nearby - sorry I picked this one to save a few bucks.

The Herren House is a beautiful home in the heart of downtown Waynesville. It's on a quiet street within walking distance to main street and the Hart Theatre. ||Our room was very comfortable and well appointed and although there wasn't any staff on-site we found communication via text to be very prompt. ||We took advantage of the buffet breakfast and the coffee shop at their Sister Property "The Balsam Mountain Inn" just a short drive away and would highly recommend a visit. ||We hope to return soon!

We booked well in advance and it was confirmed. It was "self-checkin" style. | We never got a code to get in to the building or our room on the day of our reservation. Spent an hour waiting outside while we sent multiple emails, phone calls and texts to the manager there (24 hours later, still no response). There was another gentleman waiting outside, also having the same experience as us. We thankfully found a different and lovely place nearby. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Looking for lodging for my wife in Waynesville, I saw the information on the Herren House. What a find! Not only is the location wonderful with it's proximity to downtown, the rooms are beautifully decorated with period furniture and accents. Management was great setting everything up for my wife and could not have been more accommodating. I would recommend the Herren House to anyone looking for a special stay experience.

This is a great location right in downtown Waynesville. You could walk straight to all the shops and restaurants downtown. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. It is a really nice house and kept very clean.
