The Griswold Inn

Buyer beware when booking a suite. The website says suites come with claw foot tubs, but it turns out only SOME of them do. They don't specify on the website which ones do and don't. The reason I booked the suite was specifically for that reason. So I basically paid $400 for one night for a "suite" that wasn't really a suite. I even emailed them after booking asking for more pictures of my specific room so I could put them in a birthday card (as the room was a gift) and they told me to refer to the website. This feels very scammy and as a result I will absolutely not be staying here again. Aside from that, the champagne glasses I asked to be left in the room were not clean. We had potato pancakes which were hot and very tasty. I had the steak Ceasars salad and my daughter had Cobb salad. They were both very good. Had a nice seat in the main dining room near the fireplace. I have been here many times and it is always good. Just the ambiance alone with all the pictures of boats, etc is worth the visit.

My husband and I stayed Friday to Sunday at this historic gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious Tap Room meal, followed by dancing and singing with the locals to the Psychedelic 60s band in the bar area. We splurged on a superior suite with a king bed. It was over the chocolate store across the street from The Griswold Inn. It was very spacious with ample seating, a large bathroom with a stall shower, views of the square/Griswold Inn as well as a small side view of the water from the bathroom window. No TV, but it wasn't missed. The cool, quiet, dark room was perfect for us Brooklynites! The continental breakfast included filled us up until lunch both days. Every staff member we encountered seemed genuinely happy to serve/help us. Without a doubt, we'd recommend The Griswold Inn as well

Beautiful quintessential inn/tavern! My wife and I didn’t stay at the inn but we did eat at the tavern and the food and vibe was amazing. Traditional homemade American fare just made right! & the decor was great showing old American relics. The Pilgrim sandwich was a seasonal offering and it was perfect. The homemade chips appetizer with cheese dip was awesome as well. I would totally come back!

Thanksgiving dinner at the iconic Griswold Inn. What could be more comforting? Turns out, just about anything. The best one word answer..Mess! Spaced two -hour -seatings didn't prevent a scrum of 100 people waiting a half hour for a reserved table. Random luck of the draw determined your table in the atmospheric grill room near the buffet or the too brightly lit new addition -a 3 room walk from the food. Shown to our table, the staff walked away and left us to fend for ourselves. It took 20 minutes just to flag down staff to fill water glasses and take drink orders. They could not have been more unhelpful. Since nobody approached us to welcome us or explain the buffet, we asked a frantic service person how it all worked and she said 'just go in the other room to get your food' The food. It
