The Bread Company

While driving through Illinois and the university part of Urbana , I stopped in for a lunch at the Bread Company . Arrived earlier to beat any lunch crowd and the vibe was quiet , welcoming and relaxed. A fire was lit in the fireplace in the corner and it was very inviting . Menu is a combination of cold and grilled sandwiches with a variety of different flavors. I chose a grilled Turkey sandwich with generous turkey and melted Gruyère cheese on a grilled bread with pesto. Delicious ! The star of the sandwich however is the bread . Well made with a good crunch and not too dense . Perfect for a good sandwich . There are a variety breads offered and displayed in baskets . The staff was friendly and welcoming . Parking was a bit tricky due to the college town but we were able to grab a go

A friend brought me for my first time, and it was awesome. The onion soup was delish. The Philly sandwich was quite tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a place I’d like to return to. I’d like to try more things on the menu.

Such an amazing restaurant on campus! The staff is amazing and so considerate of allergies considering their pesto contains walnuts. They welcome everyone so enthusiastically every time! My personal favorite is the veggie grilled sandwich. The bread is always perfectly toasted and the raspberry aioli pairs perfectly. Highly recommend as a date spot!

My wife and I went for lunch and had a great time. The cashier was super friendly and helpful when we were between items on the menu. The food was great. I had the cheesesteak and the wife had the pear and walnut sandwich, and we both had the french onion soup (we came here specifically for the soup). We took a loaf of rye bread home and have been snackin' all day. Overall, really excellent afternoon and we're looking forward to going back.

A lovely place to get dinner and drinks with friends and family. They have quite European style meals to order. The place has a very nice atmosphere. The service is mediocre. The food is quite okay. One note, no price tags on their menu 💁💁💁. Overall, this place is very charming.
