Taqueria La Monarca

This place completely blew our minds! For a small-town Mexican restaurant, it punches way above its weight. I’ve been dreaming about the giant peach margarita seafood chimichanga for weeks. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh, bold, and full of flavor, with thoughtful twists you don’t expect. Generous portions, fun drinks, really wonderful service. If you’re anywhere nearby, do not skip this spot - it’s a hidden gem and absolutely worth the stop.

Tracking through and I wanted a bite. Saw this and I am so happy we did. I've come to expect in Wisconsin when it comes to tacos don't expect much. These are hands down the best tacos that I have had in the state. The tortillas chips you get at the start are super fresh, and the salsa is flavourful without any spice, however you can add your preference of spice with available sauces on the table. Be sure to try the Ghost Pepper Cherry sauce. The only issue I have was being able to decide what was better, the Asada or the Carnitas.

We are locals who feel ridiculously lucky to live just 20 miles from Taqueria La Monarca. Every time we want a mini-escape from daily life, we point the car toward Ashland and spend a couple of happy hours in Mexico — also known as Taqueria La Monarca. The food is authentic, simple, and deeply satisfying, served in a colorful, lively atmosphere with great music and genuinely warm, exceptional service. It’s the kind of place where you walk in hungry and leave smiling — every single time. Let’s talk food, shall we? The food is outstanding very good. They definitely give you flour tortillas because I’m white. But still good. Very nice people working here as well

Hands down the best Mexican food within 300 miles. Absolutely suggest coming here especially if you are near the Ashland WI area. Great Mexican tap beer like Modelo and Pacifico with cold glasses and fresh limes. They also have a very wide variety of locally house made hot sauces that were incredible.
