Tsukemen was delicious. The spicy version has a nice little kick to it but not overly spicy. I didn’t use the bib but would suggest putting it on if you are getting the tsukemen. The calamari was very good. Service was quick and attentive and friendly. The restaurant has bar seating as you step in and the a dining room towards the back. Will try some other dishes next time. Yum 😋
I used to go to Taishoken in Japan quite often, so I was honestly impressed to find the taste here is just like the original. It truly feels like an authentic taste of Japan in New York. The noodles have that perfect chewy texture and hold the broth beautifully. The soup is rich with fish powder, and the subtle hint of yuzu peel adds a delicate depth that makes it really special. The staff were all incredibly warm and welcoming. Even though I came in with my mischievous kids, they treated us with the kindest smiles and so much patience. Thank you for bringing this wonderful restaurant to New York. It really felt like a little taste of home.
Don’t let the small storefront fool you, there’s ample seating in the back. Great vibes and even better service, we were seated almost instantly. The ramen was super yummy. Highly recommend! 🍜
This place is exquisite. Food is tasty and varied and the hosts are so nice and everyone greets you at the door. Yoko and Bree were so nice and took care of us. Will come again with my friends!!
Food was great. Service was some of the worst I had. Took the staff ages to get our order and our check while people around us were getting theirs faster even though we were there for longer. Asked one waiter for a soup refill and never came. Had to wait until another waiter came a good while later to ask for the refill. I would keep my hand raised and yet no one would come. I guess it’s my fault in a way, I should have stood up and went to get a waiter myself but that shouldn’t be necessary. Maybe it’s because we were sat by the door but who knows. Disappointed experience. It’s great food but I hope this service was not the norm.
