Swampscott Public Library

Most of the librarians in the children’s room are very uptight, which makes it an unpleasant experience to come here with your children. They are unnecessarily strict about allowing strollers in the children’s room, even though there is more space in their children’s room than in any other library in the area. We recently attended a story hour that was run by a librarian who was very unfriendly and unkind to the toddlers there. It is hard enough to bring your toddler to an event and to try to keep them engaged without the added pressure of the event being run by someone who is out of touch with what developmentally appropriate behavior for toddlers is and who generally doesn’t seem to like kids. Great kids room, teen room. Lots of nooks to settle down with a good book!

This library is an awesome, quiet place to get in a quick study session or read some great books. The employees are very kinda and helpful when searching for the right books. On top of that, the entire environment is very calming and peaceful.

Lots of changes! Come to the library for knowledgeable librarians, cool new seating and upgrades. Hoping the entrance gets the redo it deserves. Great progress SPL!
