We had a fantastic experience with the 12-course omakase. It is a traditional Japanese omakase with a few well-executed Western touches (eg. use of pico de gallo and truffle). The restaurant feels very intimate and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Incredible omakase in the city. Chef really knows his stuff and is so passionate about what he does. he makes sure to always get the highest grade fish and when I tell you I’ve never had sea urchin or tuna like this or believed it could be this good. Not to mention the openers/appetizers/dessert were all sooo good and innovative. Chef even makes his own ginger in house (incredible) and hand grates real wasabi right before the guests arrive. The space feels so modern and classy. Highly recommend for a date!! We visited from out of town and did the 9 course omakase at 5:30 before we saw a broadway show at 7:30, which was perfect timing. Felt almost like a private dining experience with the chef because I think NYCers tend to eat later in the evening. 11/10 recommend!!!
Hands down the best food we've ever eaten in our lives. My reviews are always honest and with that said.... This place is ALL TIME #1 RESTAURANT. The food was literally exquisite. The flavors and progression of the bites. The interaction with the chef and waiter and other customers... It was literally the best food and best time we've ever had. If I wouldn't have looked gluttonous I would have done 2 whole rounds because it was that good. The starting appetizers were hands down my favorites but I loved everything. Not 1 complaint. There was no fishiness or bad experiences here. Will literally take day trips out to NYC just to go to this restaurant again.
Spectacular sushi. Not good, but spectacular. We loved it. Spectacular selection of sake. Service was spectacular. Again, not good, but spectacular. While the table by the window was intimate, the view of the street and the people watching was extra entertaining. This last comment does not impact our rating of the restaurant at all; it is simply a recommendation to future customers who appreciate that authentic NYC atmosphere. And if not, the curtain closes. 😉
One of the most delicious omakase experiences I have had! The food was divine, creative, and unique. Service was top notch. We did the 15-course menu, and it was all coursed out properly, which is always appreciated. For a Friday night, it wasn't very busy, but I attribute that to the amount of omakase competition in the area. I highly suggest checking out Sushiichi if you want high quality fish and service!
