Surf's Up Grill & Bar

Surf’s Up Grill & Bar was the perfect laid-back beach stop. We grabbed a couple seafood baskets and everything hit the spot the shrimp were well seasoned with a fresh lemon wedge, and the fried bites were crispy and not greasy at all. Loved that they gave plenty of dipping sauces (butter/cocktail/tartar), which made it easy to mix it up. The drink was great too (spicy rim, super refreshing), and the daily specials board had some tempting options the fried flounder on a brioche bun sounded awesome and the prices felt reasonable for a beach spot. Chill vibe, casual outdoor seating, and solid seafood. I’d definitely come back next time I’m in Emerald Isle.

Eventhough my sis and I were the only minority there. We felt very welcomed. We are both prior service US Army and we are use to these situations. The food was deliocious and the bathroom was clean and the customer service was excellent. This was the first beach I went to. I was pregnant with my son almost 25 years ago. The view of the beach was as I remembered breath taken.

Great food! Possibly the best fried shrimp we have ever had! They were extremely busy when we dined in on a Sunday night. Wait time was about 30-40 minutes not bad and they accommodated our family of 6 just fine. The air was smoky due to something being burned in the oil. I was fine but my asthmatic kid had a hard time.

So when we checked in they said there was a 30 minute wait for a table for 5 people. The thing is the table I was looking at was empty, cleaned, and it could seat 9 people and we’re currently sat at this table. Our server took a long time to come. It was his first day on the floor but violet was good. The food was good but when you order lettuce you get 3 strips, also for the sandwich it was toasted on one side and it wasn’t toasted on the inside.

My husband and I ate here last night for date night. I have been in a couple times to grab an appetizer with friends after being on the beach but this was my first full meal. It was crowded and a little busy so we sat at the bar. It took a little while to get our food ordered since we were at the bar but everything was delicious. We both got an appetizer and a entree and we had plenty to eat and then some. We then went to sunset slush for dessert. The only thing I would suggest is possibly allowing a 3-hour parking time instead of two as we barely made it out under our two hour limit.
