Surf is, without a doubt, the best spot on the river. The service, atmosphere, and seating are all wonderful! We stopped in for dinner and had a perfect view. Derek, our server, was awesome and friendly. The menu offers a variety of seafood dishes, including sushi, baked seafood platters, and pastas. We shared the Lobster Fries, which really hit the spot. They were loaded with thick-cut fries and fresh lobster meat. I would come back just for this dish. We also ordered a variety of sushi, Bloody Mary oyster shooters, and baked seafood. The salmon nigiri was the highlight of the night, but everything was good nonetheless. We've missed out on this place over the years, but we'll be back. Thank you for a perfect night.
The staff were great. The appetizers were awesome. My lobster was really good, but for 40 some bucks I could have gotten a really good steak. My sides were so so, but I didn’t get to them until they were cold. My wife’s haddock, shrimp and scallops were really good. We made a reservation because we had 6 people in our party. I asked for a table by the windows overlooking the water and they obliged. Parking was right across the street, but it was pricey. Basically $10 an hour. Their drinks were decent.
Tucked in the beautiful historic district, you can eat phenomenal sea food looking at the harbor. The seared tune was absolutely perfect, fresh delicious tuna, sashimi quality, on wasabi mashed potatoes and a tomari sauce and seared broccoli, really perfect ... The raw oysters were phenomenal, I would have gotten more of they were less expensive, $4 each, my husband said that the gluten free New England clam chowder was the best he's ever had, I took a taste and it was wonderful, and then he got the Portuguese fish stew which was "great" really delicious ... I can't wait to return here!! BTW our waitress is amazing, so knowledgeable, Tammy from Nashua, she was extremely helpful in our ordering, so friendly! The atmosphere is .. well, a bit silly, but I can forgive it because the water view
Pricey but beautiful location and excellent food and service! Definitely worth a stop. Parking is a pain but if you park further away with street parking or even find a free spot, everything is walkable in Portsmouth, and this is worth an endcap to the night. Food comes in good sizeable portions, presented well, and delicious. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. And the view if you get a window seat is great of the open bay.
Nice waterfront location, with Maine just across. The lobster rolls were delicious; I liked the traditional (cold) one better that the hotel one. Our waitress Abbie was amazing, super attentive and helpful. A great lunch break on our way north.
