Steak 'n Shake

Only rated this place four stars because no one takes your order or brings it to you. You have a touch screen kiosk to place your order then they call you and you go pick up your order. To feel your drink cup you have to scan a barcode. I guess you can just say that's being modern, but it's too modern for me.

Without a doubt the best fast food you can get in the country. Same high standards as back in the 70s. And no more expensive these days than mickey d's.

This location is stepping up. I haven’t been in a Steak and Shake this pleasant in years. It was clean (floors and bathrooms could be better), they have upgraded the booths, chairs and tables, the staff was polite and actually smiled (!) and the food was excellent. Both quality and quantity exceeded expectations and price was on point. I am a hard reviewer but give props when due. Honestly so surprised by how great this experience was.

Place hasn't been updated since 1902. There is hardly any service because you order off a kiosk now, might as well go back and make your own food too. Speaking of food. You dont want to know my honest opinion on that subject! I ordered a cheese burger and fries, with a drink that was timed on my fill.

This was my first time dining inside Steak ’n Shake in years, we typically do drive through and unfortunately it was a terrible experience. I didn’t realize the restaurant is now self-ordering, which wasn’t an issue. The problem started with the self-serve soda system. When I went to get drinks, they were out of cups and an employee had to refill them—she was clearly unhappy about it. When I asked how the soda system worked, I was told I needed to scan my receipt. We did not know and my husband had already thrown it away. Instead of offering a solution (such as reprinting the receipt), the employee said there was “nothing she could do” and showed a lot of attitude—even though we had paid for drinks.
