Spruce Lodge Bed and Breakfast

We stayed in The Apartment which has its own private entrance at the back of the Main House. Our car park allocation was only a few strides to our apartment entry. The Apartment was as advertised and filled our expectations. It is not modern, but old as part of the original home, but that was character to us, and was very clean and everything working just fine. The Apartment gave us the space and privacy wanted. Great water pressure and good hot showers. Breakfast was plenty satisfactory with homemade bagels, bread, butter, cream cheese, jams, fresh fruit, juice, hot drinks etc. You could sit around a communal breakfast table with other guests, but we chose the comfort and solitude of eating in the communal lounge. In warmer weather the option would also be to eat outside on the porch. The

Decent for the price. Decided to stay here with my husband after a long day of hiking. Not the best B&B but also not the worst; bottom line- you get what you pay for Pros: •continental breakfast in the morning •cozy room with old fashioned decor •hot showers Cons: •for my room, You had to walk out into the hallway in order to use the bathroom •the pillows aren’t great. They fall flat as soon as you lay on them (glad I brought my own) •room was a little too warm for my liking. There was a ceiling fan that you could turn on, but no temperature control •door frame didn’t quite match up with the door which caused light from the hallway to leak in

Stayed here with my daughter for long weekend. Our room was extremely clean and quaint, with our own private bathroom in the room and 2 beds. Breakfast was simple, but fine. We were able to walk into town from the lodge, sparing us the hassle of trying to find parking in town. My daughter loved the cats, which made the place feel more homey. Would certainly stay here again.

I stayed here about five years ago. The room was basic but large. Breakfast was pretty lousy, just cereal and toast. I was expecting a charming B and B, but I didn't find this place charming. Proprietor was nice enough. No A/C and it was hot as blazes. I can't say I would stay here again.

It's close to all the shops but far enough away you can sleep peacefully with the windows open for a breeze. They had a common room with different games and a tv and we often saw strangers sitting there in discussion with each other. Seems like a friendly place. Our room was small but cozy, I enjoyed the stay and breakfast in the morning.
