Speckled Hen Inn

We stayed at the Speckled Hen Inn 4 nights in December 2025. It was delightful! The facility was very clean, warm, quiet, and welcoming. The bedroom was even more so; the bathroom was spacious and brilliantly clean. Although within the Madison area, we experienced it as pure country. The food was delicious, healthful, varied, and allowed for substantial choice on the part of each guest. There is a handy refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker for the use of guests. The other guests were interesting. Most importantly, the hosts are people we would be honored to call friends – thoughtful, kind, reasonable, smart, anticipated guest needs, good to talk with, easily went about their own lives when we needed downtime. Price was reasonable. We definitely look forward to visiting again!!!

This was our first time staying at a B&B, and the entire place was lovely. The room was incredibly clean and cozy, making it feel like a true home away from home. The hosts were absolutely wonderful, and breakfast was a 10 out of 10. Some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I would highly recommend this peaceful getaway.

Our stay at the Speckled Hen Inn was a delightful experience. The Inn is located just outside Madison and is convenient to all activities in Madison and surrounding areas. We used the Inn as a hub for exploring not only Madison but also Monroe and the surrounding dairy and cheese-making areas.||A farm-like setting with chickens, sheep, a llama, and a horse grazing in the nearby pasture, visible from the pleasant front porch, make for a relaxing and peaceful stay.||Tom and Heather, our wonderful hosts, are friendly, easy to talk with, and just very comfortable to be around. They are well acquainted with the area and can provide very useful information about area activities. Tom will take you to see the animals up close if you ask. My husband recently surprised me with a getaway weekend in Madison, Wisconsin and a two-night stay at the beautiful Speckled Hen Inn. ||Heather and Tom are wonderful hosts. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Heather who explained the property's amenities, as well as reviewing a substantial menu with food and beverage choices for the breakfast the next morning. ||We stayed in the spacious Heywood Hardy Suite with a comfortable king size bed, large ensuite bathroom, a separate sitting room and a deck.
