South Village Beach

Accessible parking (can fill up on the weekends but the goal should be to get to the beach early anyways). Beautiful beach for great "ocean" activities as well as the mouth of the Swan Pond River which creates a nice current/"lazy river". Sand bars obviously change year to year but there is usually a nice reachable sand bar each day. There are a good amount of crabs but they don't really create much interaction.

Family of 5 Review - Unsure?! 7/10/24 Wednesday arrived around 4:30 to assess whether this would be worth paying entry fee to. Beach sand is very soft and fine - atypical of many Cape beaches. Parking is super limited - would likely need to arrive pretty early. NO BATHROOMS (none that I could see) Beaches on either side are private. Mild sea weed. No tidal pools. No sea creature hunting. No privacy. Not sure if I would come back.

South Village Beach is very nostalgic for my family and I so it has a soft spot in my heart. However, as far as cape beaches are concerned it is definitely not the nicest. The last time I visited it had a very strong ocean odor over by the river outlet.

For the people who remember Swan River with a narrow river opening to the ocean, the dune is gone. It has been disappearing for years but this is not quite high tide. The house in the background used to be far from the water.

We love South Village beach. They have resident only parking in 1 lot and then 2nd lot is $35 parking pass.
