South Street Cheesesteaks

South Street Cheesesteaks is a solid spot that delivers a generally enjoyable experience, even if it doesn’t quite live up to the hype in every category. I tried both the beef and the chicken cheesesteaks, and while they were good, they didn’t fully stand out as exceptional. The meat was flavorful and cooked well, but the overall combination lacked that extra punch that makes a cheesesteak truly memorable. They’re satisfying and worth ordering, just not something I’d go out of my way for repeatedly. They did at least pack them full of toppings, portion sizes definitely lived up to their advertising. South Street Cheesesteaks is easily my favorite late-night discovery in downtown Charleston. The cheesesteaks are totally legit and packed with flavor, and the owner is such a nice guy. Just a heads up that it’s carryout only, so definitely order ahead online so you can just grab it and go. It is super convenient that they are open until 3 AM, making it the perfect spot after a night out. Whether you get the whiz or provolone, the portions are huge and hit the spot every time.

Ok so look….wonderful gentleman who I think is the owner comes on to my job and leaves me a sample. FLAVOR & TENDERNISM!! So after drinking I decide to place a doordash order for The Wizard even more flavor & tendornism!! Omg these cheesesteaks are so good with a bomb portion of meat and FRESH!! Mind you I ordered after midnight!! 100/10 wouldn recommend!! Coming from someone originally from the midwest! *chefs kiss*

Nothings beats a Philly cheesesteak and this is about as close as you'll get to an authentic one here in Charleston. The meat is seasoned perfectly and flavorful, love the whiz and peppers, and the they don't skimp! The owner is friendly and down to earth. Even more the reason to support his business. I would highly recommend when you get that itch!

My new favorite quick bite in Charleston. Took less than 10 minutes, was easily in the top 3 cheeses I’ve had anywhere in the US, and price was spot on for the quality and quantity of sandwich there was. Will be coming back.
