Stopped in for lunch after wanting to try this place for a while, and it did not disappoint. Everything is made to order, and they do recommend calling ahead, but we chose to dine in. I had the fried catfish lunch with cabbage and green beans. The catfish was excellent — perfectly cooked with some of the best seasoned cornmeal breading I’ve had. The cabbage was absolutely delicious too. My husband ordered the fried pork chop with fried okra and mashed potatoes. The pork chop was a thick cut, moist, and full of flavor. I tried the okra, and it was so good. There’s plenty of seating and parking, which makes it an easy stop. The food is also very reasonably priced for the amount you get — generous portions of hearty, home-style cooking that really warm the soul. We’ll definitely be back!

I can't say enough about how delicious the food was and real southern hospitality. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We had the fried ribs, fish, chicken wings, green beans, Mac n cheese, yams, sweet potatoes and corn muffin. OMG!! It was all good!!! This is a definite place to put on your "must eat at" places. Coming from Nashville and finding this jewel of a place was awesome.

Today we went to go visit this restaurant and I have to say it was pretty amazing. The staff were extremely friendly. So nice to have soul food in Galveston. We’re definitely go back.

Man, I tell you what… this place is lit. I had the catfish with crawfish and shrimp étouffée. AND, homemade Kool Aid! The fish was amazing and the étouffée was delicious. The Kool Aid was the icing on the cake! The only problem is that I ate way too much and now I need a nap!

Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service! These are some of the nicest people I’ve met running a restaurant. Everyone made us feel like we were at home. We will be back… frequently!! I had the fried pork chops, rice and gravy and cabbage. My boyfriend had the smothered chicken, black eyed pea and mashed potatoes. They were also very understanding about my food allergies.
