short: delicious and big enough portions can save half for a second meal; unfortunately, even when requesting the manager, nothing was done to address the rude female employee. long: I started eating at Sofie's at their 23rd St & Madison location that shut down years ago. I used to go regularly because they had a lunch special. The food is well seasoned and prepared. I can taste all the separate flavors. Even after microwaving the second half, it still tastes just as delicious. The portions are big, and it's real food, meaning it doesn't taste artificial like Chipotle. The location itself doesn't seem well designed, as it has a huge and odd empty space that can be better utilized. I just pick up my food and take it to go. The experience I had with a rude female employee truly eliminated m
I was more excited to come here than I was actually eating the sandwich. I got the combo #2 which got me a sandwich, chips, and soda. I chose the Mojo Pork with a Twist which I was mainly attracted to because of the fried plantains, and honestly that was the only thing I really loved about the sandwich. The pork felt flavorless to me like when I ate this sandwich I didn’t really taste any meat. It just felt like a plantain and bread sandwich, which the bread was nice and fresh so that was good. I also tried the guava and cheese empanada which I loved. The flavor was on point - sweet and a little tangy. There was a good amount of filling and the dough was very flakey! Loved this
I’ve not been to one in a while. It’s gotten very modern with kiosk ordering. The food was great, very flavorful.
Are you in New York, around Times Square? Wondering what to eat? Me too, and I made the best choice ever by coming to Sophie's. I was wandering around during my first evening in NYC, wondering what I should eat. I stumbled upon Sophie's Cuban Cuisine after a long day and something pulled me inside. Not sure exactly, but I guess that looking through the window I got a glimpse of what was to come and just had to try it. Inside was a really colorful and calm environment with nice and cheerful Cuban music. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a mango shake and they were ABSOLUTELY delicious. Both Lucia and Melanie, who served me, were really sweet and helpful. Couldn't have been treated any better. The gentleman, whose name I do not know but who so kindl6 brought me my shake to the table, as well! W
It was my first time when I tried Cuban food. I feel like I am in Cuba. It was very tasty. Nice and very pleasant stuff. Will visit again soon.
