Sofra Bakery + Café Allston

Fast causal Turkish restaurant/cafe that is always super busy on weekends and for good reason. Everything on their menu is fantastic. Plenty of vegetarian options (spinach/cheese gozleme, falafel, seasonal veggie plates) and pastries. There is a a limited but solid set of options that are gluten-free+vegan as well. These include the crispy potatoes, muhamara, hummus, grape leaves, baba ganoujh, greens, brussel sprouts, halva. Their espresso drinks are also lovely! On weekdays a good spot for a coffee date or lunch with a good book.

Nice new spot with more seating than the original location. There is some parking. Like others have said, portions feel kind of small. It sounded like the chicken shawarma wrap is better than the shakshuka. It is nice how breakfast is served until 2pm on weekends.

I love many of the pastries and baked goods from Sofra. Quite delicious. The tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are great. However the portions for the price you pay is ridiculous. For a $6-7 cup of hot chocolate it’s not even filled to the top. Also, I would appreciate a comfortable laid back cafe style atmosphere where one can sit alone and do work on their laptop, however there is no internet service. So it does not really have that cafe feel which I personally don’t enjoy.

Went there to have breakfast. Parking was little tricky to find as all road parking were for residents only on weekdays and fee parking places reserved for bakery were filled. We got lucky and got 1 space soon but if you are planning to visit on weekdays, I suggest to find out parking first. We had coffee, chicken wrap, Cilbir , croissant with peppers. Coffee was great, loved the croissant with pepper, it was new, different and tasty. We love tatte bakery and this was a good change for us on similar taste.

We placed a last minute catering order and they were so helpful and efficient getting our food together and prepped for pick up. The food was delicious and was properly proportioned for the amount of people we had. Everyone had great things to say about all of the items we ordered. The food was neatly packaged and came with instructions for anything that needed to be heated. We will definitely be ordering from Sofra again!
