Soangetaha Country Club

Moving reviews over from Yelp. This was originally published in 2017: Back in the 'Burg for an alumni event and it was held here. I've been here for a number of other college and alumni events over the years but this is the first time since establishing a Yelp account. My recollections of the place when I was in college were that they were always a little too "top shelf" for the 'Burg. Now that I'm a few decades removed from those days I recognize that they are one of the nicest places in town. Small disclaimer...I consumed a fair amount of single-malt scotch before eating so my recollection of the food may be slightly rosy around the edges. Banquet food can be pretty miserable. 8.5/10 stars Overall: What a hidden gem! Soangetaha (Swanny) Country Club sits on a beautiful piece of land overlooking Rice Lake. You feel like you're away from everything else once you pull onto the grounds. Galesburg isn't a big city but, Swanny doesn't feel like a small town CC. This place is truly special and is now on my yearly return list. Pros: 1. Good layout with each hole different than the last. Course isn't built on top of itself so you've got room in between holes. 2. Course is very well maintained. 3. Fairways were like carpet, greens were true and fast, and fringes were some of the nicest I've played. 4. Good views of the lake from the course. 5. Some elevated tees and good use of the undulating fairways. 6. Its a CC, so its nice and you feel like like you're somewhere spec

We just hosted the annual Kill Bogey event at Soangetaha. All of the staff pulled off a great event. This was enjoyed by many members and their guests.

The new clubhouses excellent and suitable for fine dining.

Old school country club. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil. The grounds crew clearly does a great job. The main clubhouse and restaurant are in need of modernization and a face lift. It is old and stuffy. Food is fine but nothing spectacular. Staff is friendly and helpful and it appears the club has done a good job in retaining staff.
