Smash City Burgers Downtown

I got the Irish Bastard my son got the Jodi Foster. Wow. Great flavor great price and we just stumbled in. Came to Charleston to show my son Patriots Point( love the place) after the Fort Sumter tour we were hungry so we looked up a place nearby. That place ( which I won’t name) was packed. So we just went in the bar next door. In the middle was Smash City burger. We looked the menu over and ordered. Incredibly lucky on our side. We thank the cook and she told us they had been voted best burger in the city 2 years in a row. I believe it. The place next door ? If they have a better burger God is cooking it.

After searching for a classic smash burger, decided to try Smash City. Tucked away in the neighborhood, decorated with a 70s vibe: vinyl records, album covers, and old school lunch boxes. Burgers were true smash burgers, flat and with a crunchy edge. Lots of options for toppings. Fries were that old school lunchroom style, perfectly crispy and salted. Delicious trip back to the 70s.

Decided to ride over to this little dive after reading about their award in a local flier. They did not disappoint with their Carolina Caviar burger and the Beer Bacon Burger! The place was nice and clean despite being small. Had a fun eclectic vibe going on. Jeremy, the owner, took a moment to share the story with us. We will definitely return! Absolutely excellent smash burgers! The beer cheese bacon smash burger came in a bowl swimming in beer cheese and bacon simply delicious! Service was quick and friendly.

My wife and I dropped in on our 25th anniversary trip to Charleston. The food was fantastic. She had the Carolina Caviar burger and I had the beer cheese, bacon, and beef smash burger. Joey served us and was SUPER helpful and welcoming. The fries were fantastic too. It is the definition of a dive. Food was ready in about 4 minutes.
