Smallgoods Cheese Shop & Cafe

I visited 'Smallgoods' on a recommendation from some locals and I'm glad I walked the mile to the store for a sandwich as it was awesome. I had the "California Cheese & Turkey" which as well as the cheese and Turkey, obviously, has apple slices, cucumber and some greens in it, along with some Padron jam and Big Bill's Mustard Mayo... It was delicious, all the flavours and textures (the crunch from the apple) just worked. Service from Jenny was friendly and prices are reasonable ($12.99 pre-tax, for my sandwich). There are a few seats outside, and a few inside too. All in all a great sandwich and lunch experience.

My husband and I tried a mystery picnic that is set up in LA jolla. As part of this experience you complete clues that will take you to local restaurants to pick up items to your picnic! Small Goods was one of the places on our stop. And I'm so glad we got to try this place, they gave us a variety of cheeses that we took around the corner and ate by the beach. I believe they call this their summer beach box, which is totally perfect pick me up to take for picnic or by the beach. I'm really glad I got to try this place and will definitely be coming back to try more of their cheeses and other items!

This past week while visiting San Diego's North County from Tucson, AZ my wife and I went in search of the perfect grilled cheese. And figured to have found it at Smallgoods Cheese Shop & Cafe in La Jolla, winner of multiple "Best of" awards. Except on Tuesday, the owner was having a day...and refused to take our order for an SG Cheese Melt. She said we could return another day - suggesting it was best to call first - albeit with no assurance she would be in a sandwich-serving mood. Ever-hopeful, two days later we called and received her approval to make the 25-minute drive (again) from our hotel in Del Mar to savor what could be the perfect grilled cheese. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had! Fresh and delicious ingredients that all complimented each other perfectly. The owner was incredible as well. If we didn't all travel all the way from Canada, we would all be there weekly! Thanks again!

Our second time ordering from SmallGoods in La Jolla, CA. Bring 3,000 miles away didn’t impede the ordering, same wonderful service, same exceptional choices. Ready when they said it would be and enough food to feed 8 people - including 5 who just arrived after long flights.
