Slater's

The BBQ sampler and Brisket plate were both excellent. It took a little while for the food to be served, but very much worth the wait. Both the sampler and the brisket plate offered generous portions, prepared perfectly using quality cuts of meat, with very good rubs and BBQ sauce. The included sides were also very nicely flavored and freshly made. A corn bread muffin accompanied each meal. Our server was attentive, friendly and unrushed while at our table. This was our second visit to Slater's and again we were very pleased with everything.

We got take out, one of their specialty BBQ sauce pizza offerings with pulled chicken. It was very tasty with a large portion of chicken. We also got a saddle bags appetizer - it was an intense mixture of pork, cheese and potato cubes. I was expecting something akin to potato skins, not a casserole. It tasted good, but I don't think I'd recommend it as an appetizer. Slater's is a great place if your looking for some casual dining. Since I like both BBQ and pizza, having them together is a fun treat.

First time at Slater's. Sat at the bar and had an app and pizza for meal. Service was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice crowd of people but not overflowing sure to ample space. I do wish the food was better. It wasn't inedible but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it. They have the right equipment and ingredients but it just seemed like it was lazily slopped together with little care for taste or presentation. I'll come back and try some other dishes...

I am really having a difficult time believing some of the five star reviews for this place. My boyfriend just moved to the area and figured we would try out this place for dinner. We frequently visit restaurants that cook barbecue-type food, and are big fans. However both our meal and experience here left much to be desired. When we arrived, the resteraunt was nearly empty and we ordered a pizza with the Smoked Brisket. We waited over a half hour for our food, which would have been fine if the food actually tasted good. More than half the brisket on the pizza was fat. The few pieces that were actually meat were not at all tender, were overcooked, lacked flavor, and tasted like pure charcoal. Such a great find!! We were out of towners and found this place on maps. Service, food, atmosphere all terrific! We sat outside to enjoy the flowers and the beautiful weather. Definitely recommend and we'd go back if we're in the area again!! The pizza is amazing, wood-fired, absolutely the best. Service fast and very friendly and attentive.
