Silvis Public Library

I’ve been going here for YEARS but recently since their changes to the library and the remodel or what have it it’s been AWFUL everytime. The first time my son using the play space while I was on a computer wasn’t acceptable, he’s almost 6 and responsible and respectful so I utilized the computers in the children’s area to best service my own needs. Today I came in to write a letter and use the computers knew where I was going and what I was needing. I was not greeted kindly more or a monotone “ can I help you” to which I replied no I need to do this…. And was followed up with being told I couldn’t have my coffee inside of the library. It has a lid and such and I’m an adult. But okay. I chose to leave and drive to moline for their library, and I won’t be back to Silvis. The ladies there us

The lady's there are awesome. They were very kind in helping me on the computer. Stayed right by my side. I will be back. Its nice to know there are still people willing to help those who aren't as smart on computers like me. Thank you again ladys. You really helped me

The water fountain is too strong, shoots into the carpet, has lime & calcium deposits. Their restrooms are clean, single-user, gender-specific; I've had to wait for someone only once. Internet speed is fast, 25.1 Mbps download, 11.9 Mbps upload (Google speed test). In the summer heat (outside), bring a sweater or jacket (inside); although I seem to be the only one needing insulation. People speak freely with a normal volume in their voice, and that includes the staff.

I would have given five stars, but there is no digital book sharing from devices. No connections to genealogy websites either nor to Hoopla as Moline and Rock Island library have access. I miss the Hoopla after moving from Moline to Silvis.

Very cute little library. You can tell the staff works very hard on decorating and programs, the library is very inviting and welcoming.
