Just when I thought Elmhurst was on a downward trend as restaurants kept closing, I was surprised to run into this new establishment. The signage and lights acted like magnets, and really drew me in. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the staff told me the restaurant was less than 1 year old. The interior was as inviting as the exterior: new, well-lit, and with a great ambiance. "Shi-miao-dao" in Chinese means "the 10-second time is up," referring to the amount of time required after you put the rice noodle into the broth. Yunnan rice noodle has gained popularity in recent years, and I have experienced the "mini pot pot" concept and free refill offer in Chinatown. But that didn't contain my excitement for this place. Love the original flavor! Absolutely loved the rice noodles here! The noodles were perfectly cooked — soft but still chewy with that great springy texture. The broth was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and you can tell everything was made fresh. Portions were generous, and the toppings (fresh herbs, tender meat, and crisp veggies) really brought it all together. Comforting, satisfying, and exactly what I was craving. I’ll definitely be back for another bowl soon!

ShiMiaoDao Yunnan Rice Noodles impressed me with its clean atmosphere and excellent service, which might be attributed to it being a newer spot. I ordered the Spicy Beef Rice Noodles, and the experience of following the preparation instructions was surprisingly enjoyable and unique. The dish itself was very flavorful and satisfying. While it was described as spicy, it was quite mild for my taste, registering at about a 2 out of 10 on the heat scale. I found it incredibly filling and rich in flavor, finishing everything except for the soup. I'd give my meal an 8/10 and definitely plan on returning to explore their other dishes. I can confidently recommend what I had!
