Customer Reviews
First of all it is not four miles from Lexington, VA. It is much further. The websites description of the rooms is deceptive, the owner Nancy was not friendly and seemed a bit cranky. We did not feel welcome apon arrival. Also the fireplace and Jacuzzi tub were broken and no TVs in the room. We didn't stay we left very unhappy with no refund.
The weekend art destination was a relaxing, informative wonderful experience. I did have to reschedule my weekend from last year due to a family illness and I have to say Nancy was more than helpful and accommodating in working with me to find a time that I could attend. I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning to paint or improve on your current skills. It is a fun, relaxing atmosphere and the house and |grounds are beautiful. The food and art instructions are top notch and Nancy and Jan are terrific!
My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year Anniversary and spent the first night of the trip at this bed and breakfast. From the moment we arrived the owner of the b&b was very odd and off with us. She only had 1 Honeymoon room (which we rented) and when my husband went to check in she said she had no reservations for that room and that she would have to check her book. My husband pulled up the confirmation email to validate that it was us checking in. The room was not clean. The carpet had dead bugs on it. The b&b owner was very curt when telling us about the room and when I asked where would be a good place to eat she looked right through me and said look in the magazine in the room. She had no recommendations even though this is a small local town or ability to make small talk.
What a beautiful place! We went up to watch our son play football at VMI as Citadel fans, go Dogs!! We left of not just fans of the beautiful countryside but fans of Shenandoah B&B. Nancy and Jan were such gracious hosts. It was so peaceful, down a country road away from the hustle and bustle. And the homemade breakfast that was included every morning, WOW! Nancy is an amazing cook and very sweet person. Met some very nice guests at the house as well. We will definitely be back soon and will bring friends! Thank you so much for a nice weekend getaway.
My family and I stayed for a weekend in their guesthouse. It was very nice, clean and comfortable, with a small kitchenette downstairs providing complimentary coffee, tea and popcorn. The living area and tv are both a bit small, but why come to the mountains if you are going to spend time on the couch anyway? There is a fire pit (which we used) and a grill available for use on the property. Breakfasts were wonderful and filling. The property grounds are beautiful and located just a few minutes from downtown Lexington. I would highly recommend this place. While you are there, be sure to stop by Halcyon Days Cider Co. and the Pink Cadillac Diner. :)
