Shady Grove

I have been going to The Shady Grove in Ellsworth WI for years and it has always been a local favorite for me. The food is always good and the atmosphere and service have never let me down. Last night was on another level. I had the lamb chop popsicles with Brussels sprouts and maple whipped sweet potatoes. This was honestly the best meal I have ever had at this restaurant. The lamb chops were full of flavor and everything on the plate was perfect. The service was great, the drinks were great, and the whole night was just perfect. We also ordered the filet. It has never disappointed and is usually spot on every time. Last night it was a little off and I am not sure what the deal was, but that will not deter me from ordering it again. Shady Grove is such a gem. Service is stellar, food is amazing. Standards like fish fry or prime rib are always on the menu, but look out for the specials! Bison ribeye, winter squash lasagna…you can’t go wrong. Shane and Bridget go out of their way to use local ingredients. Fantastic spot. Call for a reservation so you’re not disappointed!

Staff were amazing and super friendly. Food was ok. Prime rib was flavorless but pretty tender and lean. A blackened option would be a great option or injected before cooked. Lobster was like chewing on a leather shoe and super fishy tasting. Crème Brûlée was amazing as were the drinks. If you’re looking for prime rib or lobster, elsewhere would be better especially for the money even though limited in this area. Everything was ate but I’m not leaving anything for what I paid.

Morgan was our server and she was Amazing 🙂 I am also a server at a supper club and she was so friendly! Even the younger boy who brought out our salads had great manners. I love this place. Small venue, but huge flavors ! Definitely make a reservation if you're thinking of dining here. There are a ton of great options on the menu, from catfish to ribeye and bison filets with a delicious chimichuri on top. The ribeye was very well trimmed down - honestly, one of the best ribeyes I've had. I will recommend the whipped maple sweet potatoes as one of your sides. When you order dessert, do yourself a favor and get at least 2 or all 3 desserts. Delicious and wait staff were attentive and very professional.
