Sendo

This is a true hidden gem. The sign is super small and it's up a flight of stairs on the second floor. My husband and I came in for lunch on a Monday. They don't take reservations and there are only 8 seats, so we had to wait about 45 min but we passed the time in Nordstrom Rack across the street. It was worth the wait. Every piece was delicious. We originally ordered the Tokyo set but decided to upgrade to Hokkaido set after tasting the first couple pieces of nigiri. The fish literally melts in your mouth. We split a sake and I also ordered a soba tea. Also so good! The soba tea was perfect to warm me up in this cold weather. Highly recommend stopping in if you have the time.

Sendo was an incredible spot. It genuinely reminded me of Japan and that very honest approach to omakase and truly authentic restaurants. The kind of place you find in the middle of the city, walk up a random set of stairs that feels like an apartment building, and suddenly you’re in this small, intimate space centered entirely around the food and the craft. Sitting at the chef’s bar was such a special experience. It’s quiet, focused, and personal. You can talk to the chef, enjoy the moment with your partner or friends, and really slow down. The prices are unbeatable, the vibe is unmatched, and the freshness is next level. The chef was incredibly kind and welcoming. Location is hard to find at first. There is a discreet looking door and a narrow flight of steps to the second floor. Once you go inside, you’ll find an intimate small space where you can sit around the chef for omakase. There are a lot of takeout orders. We came to pick up an order and they packed them so nicely. Very nice sturdy bag, great for sushi date night at home. Some of the boxes were made of wood and the rest were high quality boxes with magnets. Kind of like a beautiful treasure box. Sushi was SUPER fresh and not fishy. Rice was perfectly seasoned and not mushy. They really took the time to wash and cook the rice. The nigiri boxes were amazing. We demolished everything between two people! Will come again for a sit down next time.

To an untrained palate like mine, this was a good experience. I came for lunch and waited about 1.5 hours before being seated. I ordered the $48 Hokkaido set, which included 10 pieces of nigiri, 2 hand rolls, and 1 kaisendon. I wasn’t sure what to expect but ended up enjoying it. Watching the chef prepare the sushi was a cool part of the experience. Both the hostess and the chef were welcoming. Overall, a solid first-time omakase expeience.

Sendo was amazing and exceeded any expectations I had! The sushi was so fresh and every piece was so perfectly curated. The quality extended way beyond the price point, will be coming back! Just a psa for anyone who is interested in coming here, the restaurant doesn’t have a sign on the ground level. Once you arrive you will see a glass door with a staircase, go up the flight of stairs and the restaurant will be to the right. Waited about 1 hr 15 mins on a weekday but very much worth it!
